The bar erupted with guesses.

“You study the teams’ statistics and calculate the most likely score!” one fan shouted.

A man in a Spain jersey raised his beer. “No—she uses the betting odds!”

“You write down every possible result,” another fan called out. “Then one of them has to be right!”

A woman near the television shook her head. “She only predicts matches that are fixed!”

Another fan laughed. “She waits until the game is over and claims she predicted it beforehand!”

The bartender listened, amused, then shook her head.

“Not even close. Looks like you’ll all have to keep paying for your beer.”

The crowd groaned.

She smiled and revealed the answer.

“Before kickoff, the score is always zero–zero. Every match begins at zero–zero.”
